"Avan." is a completely new mandolin produced to commemorate Ochiai Gengakki's 60th anniversary.
The name comes from the Italian word ``Avanzata,'' which means ``forward'' or ``progressive,'' in order to move beyond the history and tradition that has played a part in the mandolin world.
In order to open up even more possibilities for the mandolin, Ochiai chose the first flat body.
Developed an original body shape for "Avan."
A new flat mandolin that can only be produced by Ochiai has been created, incorporating the best of many years of production technology and a crossover between the "round" and "flat" sounds.
In addition to Ochiai's attractive volume, rich overtones, and wet, beautiful tone, it also has the good response and deep bass that only a flat body can provide, and has a quality that can be used in any genre from classical to pop.
It is easy to hold and can be easily transferred to other stringed instruments such as guitars and ukuleles.
