Ikegaku's thoughts on reuse

Due to rising raw material costs, a new mandolin currently costs about twice as much as it did 20 years ago.

At Ikegaku, we work every day with the desire to help as many current club members as possible, people who are thinking of taking up the mandolin, and people who were members of the mandolin club during their student days and would like to take up the mandolin again, to experience the joy of owning their own instrument and to enjoy life with the mandolin to the fullest.

"Is there any way to provide good quality instruments at the lowest possible cost in order to preserve and develop mandolin culture?"
With this idea in mind, we started the mandolin reuse service.

The way the amount is determined varies from customer to customer.
Of course, for customers who have no idea how much they can sell for, we are happy to discuss the approximate selling price of the instrument you bring in.

For example, if we sell the instrument you have left for reuse for 100,000 yen (excluding tax), we will pay you 70,000 yen.
If you have an unused mandolin at home, please feel free to contact us.
If you keep it at home it will cost you 0 yen, but if you sell it you could get it for around 70,000 yen !

At Ikegaku, we offer reuse services so that you can try out the actual items, with the aim of ensuring that you are satisfied with the products and can use them for a long time.
Even though they are reused items, we feel that purchasing an instrument is a very big event for our customers.

~ Flow of mandolin reuse ~

1) Please bring your instrument to Ikegaku. The manufacturer, age, etc. are not important.
Please bring your identification with you on the day.
Example: Driver's license, insurance card, passport, alien registration card, etc.

If you would like to have your luggage sent to us, please be sure to contact us in advance as there are some points to keep in mind.
①We will explain the key points for packing your instrument so that it will not be damaged during shipping.
② We will send you a "Consignment Sales Application Form" , which you will need to fill out and submit.
"Copy of ID" *Items that fit the above example .
"Copy of resident's certificate" * Copies are not accepted . Please enclose the original document received by the government agency.
③Please note that you will be responsible for shipping costs (for sending and returning the item).

2) Please let us know the price you would like to sell it for.
You can decide for yourself how much you want to pay.
* The minimum amount is set at 50,000 yen ( excluding tax).
If we are unable to sell the item at this price (the purchase price was low, the item's condition has deteriorated due to cracks or other changes, etc.), we may not be able to accept the consignment sale.

3) We will replace the strings when we receive your instrument, so we will charge you the actual cost of the strings .

4) The consignment sales period will be six months .
*Please note that we will not be able to return your instrument during this period.

5) If we are able to find a new owner during this period, we will pay you 70% of the sales price .

*If the purchase is not concluded within the sales period, the instrument will be returned to you.
